Tryout Schedule
- NYC Juniors teams are formed through an annual competitive tryout process in August.
- Tryouts are open to anyone interested in being considered for an NYC Juniors team.
- New AND returning players are required to register, pay, and attend tryouts.
- All age groups have multiple tryout dates. One tryout fee covers the full schedule of tryouts.
If you are unable to attend tryouts...
- Still complete the tryout registration to be included in our evaluation database
- Email nycjrsvball@gmail.com with name, date of birth, and link to game footage or highlight video (if available)
USAV AGE GROUPS
These age divisions are established by USA Volleyball.
**Athletes may tryout for an age group OLDER, but not younger. No exceptions.**
Age cutoff is July 1st, which means athletes in the same grade may fall in different age groups
Athletes should attend the tryout for their age group, based on date of birth.
If you wish to also tryout for an older age group, please let us know at tryout check-in*.
This is rare and typically only applies to athletes who are young for their grade, but wish to play with their graduating class.

- Bring a signed HARD COPY of the medical release form to your first tryout (do not email)

11U-13U Tryout Process
*Optional* Pre-Tryout Clinics: A chance for extra training and early evaluation. Open to all, even if you are not sure if you want to tryout for a team. FREE for athletes registered for tryouts. $20 at the door for drop-ins.
Tryout Dates (September): Make an effort to attend as many dates as possible for your age group.
Official Offers: Team offers will be given out on a rolling basis throughout the tryout process.

Offers will include tentative practice and tournament schedules.

Families will be granted at least 3 days after an offer is made to make a commitment to a team.

14U-18U Tryout Process
Tryout #1: This is the primary tryout for each age group. Athletes should do their best to attend Tryout #1.
Make-up Tryout: If you are unavailable to attend Tryout #1, there are make-up dates for each age-up.
Callback: Coaches will invite some athletes to return for additional evaluation.
